Last year's experience invaluable, the Union Men's Hockey Team making it into the NCAA tournament for the 1st time. That trip short lived as they lost to eventual national champ Minnesota-Duluth 2-0.

This time around, just getting in, not enough especially considering they are the top seed in the east region the Dutchmen opening NCAA play against Michigan State in Bridgeport, Connecticut, a scary moment early on in this one.

Eleven minutes into the opening period, MSU's Dean Chelios son of NHL great Chris Chelios, checks Daniel Ciampini, who hits his head into the boards. Thankfully Dean was fine. Chelios not so much. He was ejected from the game. Union gets a 5-minute power play but the 1st goal comes on a 4 on 4.

Max Novak going zone to zone and scores Dutchmen up 1-0.

Second period, Dutchmen at it again Mat Bodie the wrister no good, but watch Jermey Welsh chase the puck down and scores, 2-0 Union but Michigan State gets into the box and scores later in the period when Matt Berry beats Troy Grosenick and it's now just a 1-goal game.

But then late in the 3rd period, Wayne Simpson, and it’s now 3-1, face winner of UMass-Lowell Miami of Ohio on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. If they go on to win that and it's off to the Frozen Four in Tampa. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
