ALBANY, N.Y. -- Police are trying to find the suspects who they believe are behind two brazen burglaries in the Pine Hills section of Albany.

Officers say a couple woke up in the middle of the night to find two men robbing their Warren Street home on Sunday. The suspects allegedly demanded money and their cell phones before beating the man.

Later that same day, a woman who lives on nearby Mercer Street reported that her home was also burglarized while she slept. Police say the suspects got in through an unlocked basement window.

"In both of these cases, the windows were at the ground level. They’re basement apartments, so they're very easily accessible, so we just want to encourage people to lock those windows," said Albany Police Spokesperson Steven Smith.

The man was treated for a fractured arm and a cut to his head.
