Thirty million pounds of snack food and 50 million cases of beer. That's what people across America are expected to consume while watching the Super Bowl. YNN's Madeleine Rivera went around the Capital Region to find out how restaurants get ready for the big day.

CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. -- Football players spend more than two weeks preparing for the sports' biggest event. But, they're not the only ones doing a lot of prepping for the Super Bowl.

Take Domenic Fuda who owns SaraBella Pizzeria in Colonie. He's been getting food orders since the beginning of the week.

"So far, as of 11:30, I've got 27 orders. But, that's very early yet. Usually around two is when it starts pouring in," said Fuda.

Fuda says Super Bowl game day is the second busiest day of the year for him, behind Thanksgiving.

"Every pizzeria owner lives for this day," he said.

But it's not just pizzerias that are prepping. Athos Restaurant in Guilderland has been hosting a Super Bowl celebration for the past four years with a special item on the menu.

About eight hours. That's how long it usually takes Sokaris to roast a 60 pound pig. He's also serving other foods like chili, coleslaw and brisket to feed an expected crowd of 60 who'll watch the game in his restaurant.

"It's actually a lot of fun. And we get to watch the game in the background," said Sokaris.

While there's a lot of preparation going on for the Super Bowl, not everyone is preparing for this event. In fact, if you come to the Charles F. Lucas Confectionary Wine Bar, they've got an unconventional menu going on.

"You're not going to get any wings here today. But you certainly can get some wild boar pate and some duck salami," said Heather LaVine, co-owner of the wine bar.

For the restaurant's first anti-Super Bowl party.

"So many conversations have been struck up at the bar and what not over this topic. It's been great," she said.

"It's nice to be in a party atmosphere with friends but not necessarily be like oh, yeah, I guess we have to do that," said an attendee.
