As those longtime lawmakers leave their posts, others are set to take over. Several were sworn in Friday at the Capitol. Erin Vannella has more.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Longtime Senator Roy McDonald won't be seen in Albany after being defeated by challenger Kathy Marchione. She and several others were sworn in Friday at the Capitol, including now Senator-elect Kathy Marchione. She's taking over the 43rd Senate District seat.

A former Halfmoon and Saratoga County clerk, Marchione says she has a couple priorities for the beginning of her term.

"We need to work on unfunded mandates. They equate to higher property taxes for the people we represent. We need to work on those things so people can create more jobs and people who live here don't have such a high property taxes. That's been what I've said from the beginning that I'll hit the floor running with," Marchione said.

Also taking oaths Friday in the Assembly chamber were Congressman Paul Tonko, Senator Neil Breslin and Assembly members-elect Patricia Fahey, John McDonald, Angelo Santabarbara and Phil Steck. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
