LATHAM, N.Y. -- Just in time for the holidays, it was a special homecoming for local National Guard Soldiers. Thursday morning was the first time Specialist Paul Neaton of Cohoes saw his baby daughter after being deployed in Kuwait for almost a year.

He was one of seven National Guard members who arrived overnight at the New York State Armory in Latham. The soldiers are part of the Guard's 27th Infantry Brigade, which deployed last January.

The soldiers performed logistics, administrative and security missions. They say being home for the holidays makes their return even more special.

"Just the fact that I'm going to be home to see my son for the holidays, it's a great feeling," said Spc. Joshua Scutter.

This group follows the return of 150 other Soldiers last week. Others will continue to return home through the New Year. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
