SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- A candlelight prayer vigil will be held in Schenectady Sunday afternoon in memory of the victims of Friday's mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut. It will be held on the steps of Schenectady City Hall beginning at 4 p.m.
The vigil is being held to show support for the families and community members affected by the recent senseless act of violence. Local pastors will offer prayers.
Mayor Gary McCarthy is also expected to say a few words at the gathering.
