More than $100,000 worth of items were stolen from three houses on one street in Saratoga Springs. YNN's Madeleine Rivera talked to residents about the crime.
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- "It's a little disappointing that this has happened in a nice, quiet neighborhood," said Michael Fischer, whose house was one of the three that were robbed.
He has lived on Westbury Drive for 10 years. And nothing like this has ever happened. But he's looking at the bright side.
"There's no injuries and property can be replaced," said Fischer.
Property that police say is well worth over $100,000. Some of the stolen things include gold bars, jewelry, international money and electronics.
"Big burglaries like this are not normally common. We have had a rash of burglaries that we've been working on. But nothing this high end," said Lt. John Catone of the Saratoga Springs Police Department.
Lt. Catone says three houses were broken into and robbed within a three hour span.
"That's a little concerning. That someone can spend that kind of time going from house to house and being unnoticed," said Catone.
A lot of the residents said this is generally a pretty quiet neighborhood. A lot of people know each other and a lot of people leave their doors and garages unlocked. The lieutenant said that for this string of burglaries to happen here is uncommon.
"You really did not worry about things like this happening," said Fischer.
It's shaken up the residents a bit.
"I'll be a little bit more aware of what could happen and don't assume it's a super safe neighborhood," said Fischer.
Police are still investigating the case. They have no suspects yet.
