POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- On the Walkway Over the Hudson on Saturday, it was all about breaking a world record.

There were 2,569 people that had to perform the hokey pokey nonstop for at least five minutes in order to shatter the previous Guiness World Record. They were successful by more than 200 people, with lines stretching nearly from end to end of the mile-long span.

"I kept thinking what it would be like, but we couldn't imagine it would be this much fun, and that it was this cool for everybody to do this," said Elizabeth Waldstein-Hart, Executive Director of Walkway Over the Hudson. "The walkway is such a special place, and I love it when the public comes out and supports us. It's good for Poughkeepsie, it good for Highland. It's really a great thing for the Hudson Valley."

The non-profit group that runs the Walkway Over the Hudson organized the event, and said they're looking to break another record on the walkway in the future. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
